PAF To Get Extra Military Hardwares From USA

A recent post from defence.pk suggests that Pakistan will get some crucial military hardwares from various US sources. These includes:

I. 8 Block 52+ F-16 C Fighting Falcons fighter

II. 3 Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigate

III. Requested the sale of AH-1Z Viper attack helicopters to replace the AH-1F/S Cobras 

 

A devastatingly handsome (and lethal) beast, AH-1Z Viper attack helicopters.

It is likely that Pakistan will exercise the option for the total 18 extra F-16s or buy more surplus ones from the US. Many would say this as the diplomacy of the COAS, but still there something to observe.  Pakistan those AH-1Z Viper attack helicopters, because for both type of war scenario of Pakistan Army, in the east or north-west, they need these attack birds very urgently. 

Recently Pakistan approaches firmly with Russian firms to acquire Mil Mi-35 HIND-E attack choppers in a countable number from Russia.

 

Airstrikes kill 35 suspected militants in North Waziristan - Dawn Reports

Thirty-five suspected militants were killed in aerial strikes by fighter jets in the North Waziristan tribal region, the military said on Wednesday. The claims, however, could not be independently verified as journalists have limited access to the restive tribal agency.

A statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations said “three terrorist hideouts were destroyed in precision strikes in the northwest of Dattakhel early on Wednesday”. Dattakhel is considered a stronghold for terrorists and a targeted clearance operation is under way in the area. More airstrikes may be carried out in and around Dattakhel which has also been a scene of numerous drone strikes in the past.

The latest statement from the army comes as military operation Zarb-i-Azb is completing its third month. The operation was launched by the Pakistan Army on June 15 following a brazen militant attack on the Jinnah International Airport and failure of peace talks between the government and Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) negotiators.

The Taliban and their ethnic Uzbek allies both claimed responsibility for the attack on the airport which was seen as a strategic turning point in how Pakistan tackles the insurgency. Nearly a million people have fled the offensive in North Waziristan and taken shelter at camps for the displaced.

Northrop’s SABR Gives F-16 Pilots the Big Picture

SABR is an affordable, multifunction active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar designed specifically for F-16 retrofit. SABR provides longer detection and tracking ranges, high-resolution SAR maps for all-environment precision targeting, interleaved mode operations for greater situational awareness and greater reliability.

Northrop Grumman has nearly four decades of F-16 radar development and integration experience, and has delivered more than 6,000 fire control radars to U.S. and international air forces. The company also supplies the AESA fire control radars for the F-16 Block 60, F-22 and F-35 aircraft.
