Russia just conducted a flight test of a revolutionary hypersonic glide vehicle for the purpose of delivering nuclear or conventional warheads penetrating highly advanced missile defenses systems.

The test firing of the hypersonic glider took place from eastern
Russia involving the launch of an SS-19 intercontinental ballistic missile. Russia’s state-run Interfax news agency confirmed the test on Thursday.

Pentagon spokeswoman agrees the news but declined to comment on. Only two tests are known about this new hypersonic glider while the first test took place last year.

China and the United States also are developing hypersonic missiles, both gliders and jet-powered vehicles that travel at extreme speeds.

China has conducted six tests of its DF-ZF hypersonic glider. A U.S. Army hypersonic missile blew up shortly after launch in August 2014.  The Pentagon also is developing a scramjet-powered hypersonic weapon.

Hypersonic missiles are being developed to defeat increasingly sophisticated missile defenses. The weapons are designed for use in rapid, long-range strikes.

Vladimir Putin Attended Victory Day Parade 2016 At Red Square, Moscow

Victory Day marks Germany’s surrender to the Soviet Union in 1945. It became the end of the Great Patriotic War for the USSR, which lost about 25 million citizens in the four years of fighting. Interestingly, until its 20th anniversary (May 9, 1965), Victory Day was not a major holiday, unlike, for instance, May 1, and was considered a work day.
Apart from the anniversaries in 1965 and 1985, Victory Day celebrations in the Soviet Union did not feature a military parade. This tradition started in 1995. In October 2012, Prime Minister, Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree that would extend the Victory Day Celebrations from Thursday, May 9, 2013 to Sunday, May 12, 2013.

Egypt Set to Get 46 Kamov Ka-52K Navalized Attack Helicopters from Russia for it's Mistral Helicopter Carrier

Ka-52Ks were designed for French-made Mistral helicopter carriers that were to join the Russian Navy last year, before France cancelled the deal over Ukraine. The warships are now being bought by Cairo. "In the outgoing year, new contracts were signed with Russian and foreign helicopter users," Russian Helicopters Director-General Alexander Mikheev said in a statement published in the corporate magazine.

He added that a major sale of Kamov naval helicopters were part of the deals that Russia's state arms exporter Rosoboronexport had inked in 2015. The Ka-52K is a naval modification of the Kamov Ka-52 Alligator. It has reinforced landing gears intended for ship-borne attacks.

Russia and France officially terminated the 1.2 billion euro (some $1.28 billion at current exchange rates) contract on the delivery of the warships in August following French President Francois Hollande’s suspension of the supply late last year over the Ukrainian conflict. In October, Cairo and Paris signed a contract for Egypt's purchase of the warships originally built for Russia.

Artificial Cloud Effect Technology Will Make Russian Ballistic Missiles to Become Invisible

The Russian Defense Ministry’s Innovation Day demonstrated the latest weapons and how it will replenish the country’s military arsenals.
Artificial Cloud.
One such innovation is the aerosol generator that will be used in creating artificial clouds, reliably hiding the mobile missile systems. The composition of the aerosol is chosen in such a way that the artificial cloud would make the strategic mobile complexes ‘Topol’ and ‘Yars’ invisible to the human eye and to all other technology.

A new method of camouflaging was introduced during the show: a technology of creating false divisions of ‘Yars’ mobile complexes using holograms. The huge holographic images are created by special laser installations identical to missile systems in their dimensions.

The resulting image can create holographic decoys, and may disguise real launchers in the background of the surrounding area.

Russian Mechanised Divisions Going to be Invisible, Blust-Proof

A unique material developed by Russian engineers effectively protects armored vehicles against antitank grenades while simultaneously making them invisible to enemy radar, Russian media wrote on Saturday.
T-14 Armata MBT at "Victory Day Parade" of Russia.
The Mantle, developed by the Institute of Steel, which is part of the Tractor Factories Concern, consists of a screen with dynamic protection elements, which is placed 50 millimeters to 1,500 millimeters ahead of the protected object, Novosti VPK defense website reported.

When hit by an antitank grenade the screen’s low-density surface prevents it from blowing up with its discreet protective elements destroying the grenade fuse’s electrical circuit.

Simultaneously, the Mantle partially destroys the grenade’s cumulative element. As a result, when hitting the tank’s main armor, the grenade either fails to explode or its armor-piercing ability is significantly undermined.

As to the Mantle’s stealth capability, it makes tanks and infantry fighting vehicles six times less visible to enemy radar and three times less detectible in the infrared spectrum.

The Mantle is installed and uninstalled in a matter of just a few minutes and requires no additional training.

Russia Ordered to Arm Its Military Aircrafts With Air-to-Air Missile in Syria

Russian jets in Syria get air-to-air missiles following Su-24 incident near Turkish border. First time since start of operation.

After the news came U.S warns Russia against arming its fighter-bombers with Air-to-Air missiles in Syria, saying "such things will only complicate the situation."

Russian Sukhoi Jet Down Made Turkish President 'Saddened'

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday expressed "sadness" over Turkey's downing of a Russian warplane that has severely strained relations, saying he wished the incident had never happened.
In his most conciliatory comments yet after Tuesday's incident, Erdogan said: "I'm really saddened by the incident. We wish it had never happened, but it happened. I hope something like this doesn't happen again.

"We hope that the issue between us and Russia does not escalate any further, become corrosive and have dire consequences in the future," Erdogan told supporters in western Balikesir province.

Erdogan also renewed a call to Russian President Vladimir Putin for a face-to-face meeting in Paris on the sidelines of the Global Climate Summit on Monday, saying it would be an opportunity to restore relations.

"What we tell Russia is 'Let's resolve this issue between ourselves and within its boundaries. Let's not make others happy by destroying our whole relationship," Erdogan said.

"Russia is important for Turkey as much as Turkey is important for Russia. Both countries cannot afford to give up on each other."

Putin, who has branded the incident a "stab in the back", is yet to agree to talks.

The plane incident, one of the most serious clashes between a NATO member and Russia, has drawn a harsh response from Moscow.

Russia announced it was halting a visa-free regime for Turkish visitors, after threatening a raft of retaliatory economic measures to punish the NATO member state.

Earlier Saturday, Turkish foreign ministry warned its citizens off non-urgent and unnecessary travel to Russia.

Turkey says the Su-24 warplane strayed into its airspace and ignored repeated warnings, but Russia has insisted it did not cross the border from Syria and demanded an apology.

Egypt, Russia Negotiating Air Defense Missile Systems Sale

Russian State Technologies Corporation (ROSTEC) says it is holding pre-contract delivery negotiations for the supply of the Antey 2500 and Buk missile systems ordered by Egypt in 2014 to upgrade the capabilities of its Air Defense Force (ADF).
Antey-2500 air defense system components.
According to a military source quoted by Interfax in March this year, the missile order is part of the multi-billion Russian-Egyptian arms deal of 2014 and involves the supply of Buk air-to-air missiles, the Antey 2500 (S-300VM) anti-ballistic missile system, command posts, spares and accessories at a cost of US$1 billion. Egypt will also receive auxiliary technological equipment, launchers and other essential equipment to support the system.

According to the initial agreement, deliveries are expected to start later this year and be complete by late 2016.

"Today, we are considering the possibility of delivering to Egypt the anti-ballistic missile system Antey-2500 and the Buk 2 surface-to-air missiles. Negotiations are continuing," ROSTEC CEO Sergey Chemezov told Russian news agency ITAR-TASS at the end of the recent Dubai Airshow.

He said the Egyptian air defense systems sale will contribute substantially to the $12.5 billion in arms exports that Russia expects to earn by end of the year.

"Rosoboronexport foreign arms sales should reach $12.5 billion by the end of this year. We hope it (arms export revenue) will be a little more, but we will definitely fulfill the plan," Chemezov said.

The Antey 2500 system is an upgraded version of the S-300 missile aerial defense system. It can destroy aircraft, ballistic and cruise missiles flying at a range of up to 250 km and a height of up to 25 km.

The 9K37 Buk missile system is designed to hit aircraft, cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) flying at distances of up to 30 miles and altitudes of up to 15 miles. Egypt is the third buyer of the Russian air defense system after Venezuela and Iran.

Russia is aggressively marketing upgraded weapons and aerial defense systems in the Middle East. ROSTEC exhibited and demonstrated the new Antey 2500 and upgraded Buk-2 missile system to Middle Eastern and African customers in Abu Dhabi early in 2014.

Turkish Jets Ambushed Russian Su-24 - Russian Air Force Commanderj

Turkey had been tracking the Russian Su-24 for 34 minutes before shooting it down, Bondarev said. Turkish fighter jets were warned about Russian warplanes beforehand and waited in ambush prior to the attack.
"The radar surveillance data confirms that two F-16 fighter jets were patrolling the flight zone for an hour an 45 minutes at an altitude of 2,400 meters [some 7,800 feet], which speaks of a deliberate action and their readiness to attack from an ambush over the Turkish territory," Bondarev told reporters in Moscow.
According to Bondarev, the Russian pilots have not received any warnings from the Turkish pilots on the designated radio frequency.

The Turkish plane spent 40 seconds in the Syrian airspace, entering it for two kilometers, the commander said.
"According to radar tracking data, it was the Turkish warplane that crossed into the Syrian airspace for about 40 seconds to a depth of 2 kilometers [6,560 feet], while the Russian fighter-bomber never violated the Turkish border", he said.
According to the Syrian Air Defense data, "an object moving at a speed of 810 kmph from Turkey was registered".

The Su-24 was downed at a distance of 5,5 kilometers to the south of the Turkish border immediately after it had attacked terrorists.

"At 10.24 Moscow time the crew carried out bombing and after it the plane was shot down by an air-to-air missile launched by a Turkish Air Force F-16 that had taken off from the 8th Diyarbakir airbase on the Turkish territory."

Bondarev added that a Turkish F-16 fighter jet was guided to its intended target from the ground and launched an air-to-air missile while the Russian warplane was readying to carry out a second attack on terrorist positions.

"The method of guidance of F-16 aircraft into effective engagement zone directly, but not along the pursuit course curve shows that the fighter jet was directed from a ground control station," Bondarev told reporters.

The fighter jet stopped maneuvers in the area of patrolling and commenced missile launching a minute and 40 seconds before the Su-24 maximum proximity to the Syrian-Turkish border, Bondarev added.

"After approaching the Su-24M at a distance of launching a missile (5-7 kilometers), which proves that the F-16 was in the Syrian airspace, the fighter jet made a sharp descending manoeuvre to the right and disappeared from the radars."

The launch of a missile was confirmed by the crew of the second Russian Su-24.

"[The crew] observed a plume of a white smoke and reported it."

Turkey downed the Russian plane on November 24 over Syria. One of the pilots was killed by fire from the ground, the second one was rescued.
The rescue operation to save the second pilot was conducted professionally, the commander said. The survivor was being hunted down by "well-equipped groups" of militants. After the pilot had been evacuated, Russian "bombers delivered massive, crushing airstrikes" on the area, the commander elaborated.

The attack on the plane was filmed by radicals who knew where and when they could "get that exclusive footage", Bondarev added. The readiness of Turkish media to cover the accident was surprising, as the video of the missile striking the Su-24 was uploaded to YouTube by a private Turkish TV-channel just 1,5 hours after the accident.

China Buys 24 Su-35 Flanker-Es From Russia

China has signed a contract to buy 24 Sukhoi Su-35 multipurpose fighter jets from Russia, becoming the first foreign buyer of the advanced warplane, according to manufacturer Rostec. The deal, estimated to be worth $2 billion, is a significant boost to Russia’s arms exports.

“The long negotiation on the Su-35 sale to China has been completed. We have signed a contract,” Sergey Chemezov, the head of the Russian state-owned high-tech giant Rostec, told Kommersant business daily.

Chemezov didn’t disclose the details of the deal, but Kommersant cited sources in the Russian arms industry as saying that China had purchased 24 Su-35s at a price of about $83 million each.

The Su-35 (designated Flanker-E+, not to be confused with the Su-27M, which used to be called the same name before its discontinuation) is a long-range “4++ generation” fighter jet. It is armed with an internal 30mm cannon and has 12 hardpoints with a combined capacity of 8,000 kg, compatible with a wide range of unguided and guided missiles and bombs.

The Russian armed forces are the primary operator of the aircraft, with 36 series Su-35s currently in their possession and more to be produced. China first showed its interest in buying Su-35s in 2008 during the Airshow China international expo. Formal negotiations started in 2011.

According to Kommersant, the deal does not involve domestic production of Su-35s in China, a condition usually desired by Beijing due to its strategic goal of producing an entire range of the weapons it uses on its own territory.

The deal would ensure Chinese Air Force superiority in the region amid brewing conflicts with other nations, such as the Philippines and Japan, over territorial disputes. China’s own production capabilities of advanced warplanes, including the J-11, are not yet sufficient to maintain the necessary strength, according to Chinese media.

China is currently among the world’s top five buyers of Russian arms, restoring its position after a slowdown in late 2000s. Beijing buys advanced Russian jet engines, submarines and surface-to-air missiles, among other high-tech military items.

India Hopes to Buy Russian S-400 Air Defense Systems to Boost Security

Former Indian Wing Commander Prafulla Bakshi called Russian S-400 Triumf surface-to-air missile system the "world's most successful defense system."

New Delhi intends to sign an agreement with Moscow on the delivery of Russian S-400 Triumf surface-to-air missile systems to strengthen the country’s security, former Indian Wing Commander Prafulla Bakshi told Sputnik on Saturday.

On Friday, India's Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar arrived in Moscow to discuss military and technical cooperation within the framework of the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission for Military-Technical Cooperation (IRIGC-MTC) meeting on November 2.

"Indian air defense system is weak and the defense ministry is planning to strengthen it. Accordingly, Indian Air Force has chalked a plan to add four more regional headquarters apart from the present five. So the Russian S-400 Missile System will be very important for India. This missile system is the world's most successful defense system,” Bakshi said.

India and Russia have enjoyed good relations since the 1960s, underpinned by Russia's position as New Delhi’s foremost military supplier, particularly in the post-Cold War era.

IRIGC-MTC was established in 2000 to enhance bilateral cooperation in the military sphere. It is co-chaired by Parrikar and his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu.

The S-400 Triumf (SA-21 Growler) is Russia's next-generation anti-aircraft system, carrying three different types of missiles capable of destroying aerial targets at short-to-extremely long range.

Indonesia-Russia Su-35 Fighter Deal Till To Be Inked

Indonesia has not yet made a final decision on the purchase of Russian Sukhoi Su-35 (Flanker-E) jets, an Indonesian Defense Ministry official said Monday.

In September, Indonesian Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu said Indonesia had decided to replace its US-made Northrop F-5 Tiger II fighter jets with Russian Sukhoi Su-35s.

Jan Pieter Ate, director for international cooperation at the Indonesian defense ministry, said the country is interested in purchasing 32 advanced aircraft but a decision on the supplier had not yet been made and at the moment Indonesia is not engaged in direct negotiations with Russia on the matter.

The official told RIA Novosti that according to Indonesian law, any contract for the purchase of foreign weaponry should entail the transfer of at least 35 percent of the procured technology to the country. Ate added that such an agreement with Russia has still to be made.

Last month, the Moscow-based Center for Analysis of World Arms Trade, citing sources, reported that Western companies had intensified their efforts to persuade Indonesia to purchase their aircraft after Jakarta announced its decision to buy Russian Su-35s.

Russia's Su-35 fighter was first introduced to a foreign audience at the 2013 Paris Air Show as a "4++ generation" heavily-upgraded derivative of the Su-27 multirole fighter.
