Syria: Contract about Russian S-300 Missiles remains in force

Syria asked for new credit line by Moscow.

The Syrian Deputy Prime Minister, Qadri Jamil, visited the Russian capital Moscow in order to meet with the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The meeting between both politicians was carried out in order to speak about important topics such as the contract about the supply of advanced Russian S-300 missiles to Syria and the Syrian Deputy Prime Minister, Qadri Jamil, also wanted to secure a credit by Moscow for his country, Syria.

The Syrian official confirmed after his meeting with the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov that the contract about the supply of advanced Russian S-300 missiles is still in force and that all the agreements over arms supply between Moscow and Damascus are underway and thus, it seems there are no problems in regards of the old contract about the supply of these advanced Russian S-300 missiles to Syria.

According to the statements made by the Syrian Deputy Prime Minister, Qadri Jamil, at the press conference in Moscow following his meeting with the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, all contracts will continue and every contract made between Syrian and Russia is still in force.

Thus, Syrian Deputy Prime Minister, Qadri Jamil, has confirmed the ongoing contract about the delivery of S-300 missiles from Russia to Syria, while he was sitting next to the Russian FM Sergey Lavrov at this joint press conference following their meeting to talk about several topics and such serious issues like the delivery of modern and advanced Russian S-300 missiles to Syria and the still ongoing conflict in the Arab nation.

It is to assume that both officials also talked about several topics in regards of the Western activities and meddling in the Middle East as well as in Russia.

The contract between the Syrian government and the Russian officials about the supply of modern Russian S-300 missiles to Syria was signed some years ago, and due the situation that it is about a defensive weapon and also about an old contract between Moscow and Damascus, there should be really no problems at all, in regards of the delivery of these S-300 missiles to Syria, for the Western states. One cannot really use these advanced Russian S-300 missiles to attack another sovereign state – these are missiles for the defence of Syria.

Russia defends the delivery of the advanced S-300 missiles to Syria, while the Syrian president had confirmed (some time ago) in an interview that some of these missiles would already be in position in Syria. Moscow shares the opinion that the planned delivery of advanced and modern S-300 missiles for the defence of Syria in case of an attack by foreign forces is legitimate and a purely defensive act because Russia is not supplying “arms of offence” to Syria.

According to recent statements and some reports, the delivery of S-300 missiles from Russia to Syria would address concerns from regional powers in the Middle East that think such a delivery of S-300 missiles to Syria would be able to tip the balance of power in the Middle East. Since when are weapons for defence able to tip a balance of power? If it would be about arms of offence, then the statements by some regional US proxies, such as the king in Jordan, would be legitimate.

As already reported some days ago, the Syrian Deputy Prime Minister, Qadri Jamil, has finally visited the Russian capital Moscow and is still on location after the recent joint press event by him and the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The Syrian government in Damascus hopes that they will receive a credit line by Russia before the end of the year, according to the statements of the Syrian official in Moscow.

The Syrian state needs money to maintain the order within the country after the ongoing war against foreign-supported terrorism and the Al Qaeda-linked jihadist groups. The Syrian conflict is still ongoing and has already damaged the Syrian economy and people a lot due to all the terrorist attacks against Syria’s industry and the acts of sabotage and suicide bombings. The foreign-backed terrorists of the “Free Syrian Army” (FSA) have targeted attacked important facilities for the Syrian economy and the formerly most important industrial city of Aleppo is under siege and an embattled Syrian city for a too long time already.

According to Syrian Deputy Prime Minister, Qadri Jamil, the foreign powers have failed to topple the Syrian government in the capital Damascus, although the governments abroad have tried many military and political steps to overthrow Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad and the Syrian administration. Qadri Jamil said further after the joint press event with the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, that the fate of Syria would be “far worse without the help of its friends” and among these friends is Russia. The Syrian official thanked Moscow for its efforts to end the conflict within the Syrian borders.

The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has called on the Syrian government in Damascus as well as on the several divided (external) opposition groups to stop the battles and violence in Syria and to join their forces in order to remove the extremists and terrorists operating on Syrian soil.

According to the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, there is no military solution to the Syrian crisis and this is one of the Russian ideas that Moscow wants to deliver (into the heads of..) to all sides that are direct or indirect involved in the conflict and battles in Syria.
